Whether it is socioeconomic status, political affiliation, race, education, external appearances, etc., we all tend to play favorites, or show partiality. However, James informs us that the followers of Jesus should not show favoritism, but instead show love. In James 2:1-13, we see that favoritism is wrong because it's inconsistent, illogical, immoral, and inconsiderate. Thus, we must show love, and not favoritism, by evaluating our own hearts, reflecting on our gospel identities, and moving into action to love our neighbors as ourselves!
