Being a Youth Impact Volunteer
What is expected of me?
As a volunteer in Youth Impact you participate in: Thursday group activities (VBS-style for children, and youth group for junior high and high school students), Sunday night planning meetings, Bible Study, and mentorship. You will be expected to give approximately 6-8 hrs/week as a volunteer. We also ask new volunteers to commit to being in the ministry for at least one year in order to build consistent relationships with the kids.
When does Youth Impact happen?
Thursday (4-7pm for grades K-8, 6:30-9pm for high school)
We meet at Grace Bible Church Southwood at 4pm and leave to pick up kids. Each age group goes to a designated meeting place. During this time we have age-appropriate free time, big group activities, messages, and small group breakout sessions. These are all volunteer-run.
These meetings include a Bible Study, planning, and fellowship, all of which are crucial to the effectiveness of the ministry.
After your first semester as a volunteer, you will meet weekly with the student and/or their family. This includes eating lunch with them at their school, tutoring, Bible Study, going to their events, etc. We expect you to be very intentional in the way you use this time. Avoid doing activities for the sake of doing them. We will discuss this more at the training retreat.
