Announcing the Creekside Campus!
Prepare your work outside, get everything ready…and after that build your house. Prov 24:27
The Grace Bible Church family is growing along with the Bryan/College Station community. In order to prepare space for more men and women to hear the good news of Jesus, we are adding our third campus this coming fall in South College Station.
We are pleased to tell you that the new site will be called Grace Bible Church, Creekside Campus. We plan to begin services at Pebble Creek Elementary beginning in the middle of August 2015.
Just like adding a new room to your home, the process of launching another campus requires careful planning and preparation. At our Grace Family Gathering on January 18th, 6pm at the Anderson campus, we would like to share with you the steps we are taking to get our church ready. If you are a member, we need your presence at the meeting as we will be voting on a variety of critical issues:
Counting the Cost
We currently have enough money in the Legacy Fund to cover the operational expenses for the first year of the Creekside Campus. However, we are in need of additional funding for start-up costs and operational costs beyond the first year. For our 2014-15 budget year, we are aiming for a surplus of $450,000 above expenses, in order to save ahead for future growth. Right now we are on pace to achieve that surplus. We will provide a more in-depth financial report at the Grace Family Gathering.
Strengthening the Foundation
Jesus is the foundation of our church (1 Corinthians 3:10-15). Our leadership (elder board, deacon board, and staff) seeks to reflect Jesus’ character and build on His foundation.
In order to accomplish that most effectively as we grow, we are recommending some updates to our church’s constitution to give the elders, pastors, and deacons greater flexibility in leading the church . The biggest change that requires constitutional edits will be the creation of an elder board for each campus. All of the elders will still work together to govern our church as a whole, but the board will be restructured to better lead our church as it grows.
We will be voting on these constitutional updates at the Grace Family Gathering. You can see the entire list of recommended constitutional changes HERE. We will also vote on additional elder candidates, since we need to expand the board to meet the needs of our growing church family.
Our Creekside campus will require additional staff in order to build and shepherd the congregation. Matt Morton will be the teaching pastor; his primary job will be to lead the campus and to preach God’s Word on a weekly basis.
We will be voting on Chris Thompson to be the campus pastor at Creekside. He will help lead and shepherd the congregation, as well as oversee the operational aspects of the ministry there. You can meet Chris at the Family Gathering, and you can learn more about him and his family on our events page.
We will also be voting to promote Marty Scott to the position of Assistant Pastor for College Ministry. Marty has been on staff at Grace since June 2013 as a director within the college ministry. He has recently completed his formal ordination exam, so we are recommending him for promotion to a pastoral role. You can read more information about Marty and his family on the staff page.
We hope you will join us for the meeting on January 18th as we prepare to take these next steps. We are praying and looking forward to how God will provide for our church and our community in the months to come, so that every man, woman, and child in our area can experience the transforming grace of God.
