Anderson College Teaching Director
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. - 1 Corinthians 1:21
This verse captures Jacob’s desire to be nothing more than God’s instrument in reaching His world.
Jacob felt called into ministry at Impact Camp before his freshman year at Texas A&M. He started working part-time within the youth ministry at Grace Bible Church in 2008, where he learned to embrace the joys and challenges of middle school ministry. After graduating from Texas A&M in December 2009 with a History degree, Jacob released his original plans of moving away for seminary in order to stay in College Station and begin working full-time with Grace Youth.
In January 2010, Jacob married Susan Walters, who fully supported the decision to remain at Grace and took the extended stay as an opportunity to obtain a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M. Susan continues to be an excellent partner in Jacob's life and ministry thanks to her love of discipleship and her desire for Christian multiplication.
Following a position change within youth and a few more failed attempts to move away for seminary, Jacob accepted his current position as Director of College Teaching in Summer 2013 and learned to embrace the joys and challenges of pursuing a Masters of Theology at Dallas Theological Seminary from long-distance. Jacob is now grateful for all of the times God chose to change his plans because there is a unique opportunity for using his gift of teaching in College Station, and he would not want to be serving the Lord anywhere else.
