“Where Are You Headed?”

2 Timothy 2:1-7

Invest your life in glorifying Jesus Christ above every other pursuit.

What is the purpose of my existence?

• Psalm 19:1 – His creation glorifies Him.

• Eph 1 – Our salvation glorifies Him.

• Matt 5:16 – Our good works glorify Him.

I. Strengthen Yourself in Christ (1, 7).

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age.

—Titus 2:11-12

“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”

—John 15:5

II. Invest Your Life In Disciple-Making (2).

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

—Matthew 28:18-20

III. Keep Your Eyes on the Prize (3-6)!

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.

—2 Timothy 4:7-8

A. Persevere Through Hardship (3).

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
