“To the Ends of the Earth”
Matthew 28:18-20
Everyone is called to participate in the Great Commission.
I. Why Are Missions Necessary?
A. The Mandate Is Clear.
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
—Matthew 28:18-20
B. The Need Is Great.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
—John 14:6
“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
—Acts 4:12
• Only 11.5% of the world’s people are evangelical Christians.
• Nearly half of the world lives in unreached areas.
• At least 3 billion people have never heard the Gospel!
C. The Results Are Eternal.
After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
—Revelation 7:9-10
