“God Immutable”

 

 

As the truth about God's unchanging plans impacts our lives, then He leads us to follow His will wherever it takes and whatever it costs.

 

I.    Introduction: Definition of immutability

 

II.  Since God is immutable, his person never changes.

 

A. Human beings are the antithesis of unchanging – we change constantly.

 

B. The immutability of God guarantees that all his other attributes will never change.  (James 1:17, Heb. 13:8)

 

C. Getting to know God is the best investment of your time because everything you learn about God will hold true for eternity.

 

a.  Get to know him through the study and application of his book.

b.  Get to know him through the experiences of your life

 

III. Since God is immutable, his promises never fail.

 

A. In spite of all the promises that Israel did not keep, God kept his promise to her because he doesn’t change. (Mal. 3:6)

 

B. The Bible is full of God’s promises to his children and not one of them can ever change because he is immutable.

 

a.  Faith in Jesus gives eternal life (John 3:16)

b.  We can never lose our salvation (John 10:28-29, Rom. 8:38-39)

c.  We have a present help in times of trial (I Pt. 1:6-8)

d.  We have the assurance to enter into his presence when we leave this world (II Cor. 5:6-8)

 

C. In times of trial, we have a rational basis for inner peace and rest when we put our trust in God’s immutable promises.

 

IV.  Since God is immutable, his plans are immutable.

 

A. God’s plans for the future of the Heavens and the earth are secure (Ps. 102:25-27)

 

B. His plans for our eternal reward are secure (I Pt. 1:3-5)

 

C. God plans to glorify his name through his church and the gates of Hades will not stop him. (Mt 16:18)

 

a.  It has been very slow and hard going to see a church planted in Italy and now there are 2 new churchplants underway.

 

V.   Conclusion:

As the truth about God’s unchanging plans impacts our lives, then he leads us to follow his will wherever it takes and whatever it costs
