“Refining Fire”
1 Peter 4:12-19
We can respond to suffering with joy, integrity, and faith, because we know that suffering well leads to eternal reward, strength of character, and identification with Jesus Christ.
In every circumstance:
I. Joyfully Endure Christ’s Suffering (12-14).
“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master. It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household!”
—Matthew 10:24-25
II. Boldly Reflect Christ’s Character (15-18).
III. Confidently Trust God’s Plan (19).
While being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously.
—1 Peter 2:23
Will you set aside the temporary pleasure to pursue the eternal hope?
