Anderson Campus Pastor
“Let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.”
These words express my deep desire, not only for myself, but for every person I have the privilege to meet—to fully and richly know the Lord our God. Throughout my spiritual journey I have sought to accurately understand the truths of God and to experientially know Him in a real and transformational way.
Somewhat of a local boy, I grew up in Navasota TX, just down the road. I did not grow up in a home that honored the Lord but I was exposed to the gospel through various outside influences. At the age of eighteen, I became a believer in Jesus during a week at Young Life’s Frontier Ranch in Colorado. I came to college with every intent to pursue Veterinary Medicine, but upon finishing my degree in 1997, I forwent that opportunity and followed the Lord’s leading in an unexpected direction—ministry. I joined Young Life staff here in the Brazos Valley as an intern serving at Bryan High School. After two years I went off staff and worked locally so that I could continue with the high school students with whom I had develop deep ties.
In 2001, after attending Grace for several years, I began volunteering with the high school ministry here. Not too long after in the spring of 2002, I found myself in the position of youth pastor. Many of my most profound moments of growth, affirmation, and joy occurred during this time. In 2009, sensing the Lord’s movement in my life, I chose to step away from Grace and pursue a seminary degree at Dallas Theological Seminary.
Little did I know that upon arriving in Dallas I would not only be pursuing theological studies but also my future wife, Kathryn. She and I were set up on a blind date within a week of my moving to Dallas. Two short years later, we were married. Best decision I’ve made so far!
Upon graduation, the Lord orchestrated an opportunity for me here at Grace to be the pastor of children’s ministry, which I excitedly and prayerfully took. What a blessing to serve the children and families of the church where my spiritual life has been so profoundly impacted!
Two years later I turned 40 years old…and joyfully welcomed, along with my wife, our first child, our precious little girl, Audrey. My life is rich in God’s grace, and it is God’s grace that I pray all will know and experience.
