Sarah DeGroat grew up in East Texas and Far East Russia. She graduated from Texas A&M in December 2010 with a degree in the Russian Language. During Sarah's senior year at A&M she began co-directing Essentials, a Bible study for upper-classmen focusing on the core doctrines of the Christian faith. In January of 2010, Sarah joined College Staff as an intern, during which time she co-directed Essentials, Doulos (Grace's freshmen ministry) and led a group of upper-classmen Bible study leaders through the book of Ruth and HisStory, a comprehensive study of the God's plan from Genesis to Revelation.
Sarah accepted the position of Southwood College Women's Coordinator at Grace in July 2013. She loves what she is privileged to do—fostering and facilitating the spiritual development of college women. To watch the light of understanding flash into their eyes after grappling with a tough theological concept, to see a student engage in spiritual disciplines and then experience a richer walk with Christ, to participate in their joys and sorrows, to encourage, admonish, teach and rebuke in love—these things thrill her soul and she finds she thrives when elbow‐deep in the spiritual life of sisters and brothers in Christ.
